Weddings can be overwhelming. They take a lot of planning, preparation, and most importantly, decision-making. From picking out the venue to choosing the color of the napkins, you need to take care of a lot of things. Hiring a wedding photographer is one of them. Your wedding photographer will be someone you will entrust with the task of capturing some of the most beautiful and precious memories of your lifetime. And that is exactly why you must avoid making these common mistakes when choosing one:
1. Not hiring a professional photographer
It is tempting to save some money by not hiring a professional wedding photographer. After all, we all have that one friend or relative with a swanky digital camera. But is it worth skimping on capturing memories that you will cherish for a lifetime? While anyone with a camera can take photos, professional photographers offer much more than that. They have skills and experience. They know which moments to capture, which frames are the best, or which pose flatters the bride the most. They will give you gorgeous images that will, years later, take you back to the day, help you experience the joy and excitement all over again.
2. Not capturing the entire day
While this again comes down to your photography budget, you will probably regret not having the photographer capture the whole day. Those moments of you getting your hair done, your bridesmaids getting ready, your mother crying tears of joy watching you transform into a beautiful bride – these moments deserve to be captured as much as the ceremony or reception.
3. Not providing enough input
Yes, you must trust your photographer to take the most gorgeous pictures. After all, they are skilled and experienced. But that does not mean that you do not give any input. You surely have a vision of what your wedding photos should look like, which you need to communicate with your photographer. Are there any special moments you want to be captured? Or any relative with whom you want a photo? Let your photographer know. This will give them a much clearer idea of what you want and how they should proceed.
Avoid these mistakes if you do not want to harbor any regrets about your wedding day photos because they are going to be the most tangible memories of your big day.

After you get over the excitement of your partner popping the question, the next thing that you need to do is celebrate your love and union and capture those beautiful moments with an engagement photo shoot at a romantic location. Luckily for couples living in or around New York City, you will find very few places as charming and picturesque for this occasion. So, here are some of the most beautiful settings for your engagement photos in the Big Apple:
1. Bethesda Terrace
If you are a Gossip Girl fan, then you would surely know about this place. With its soaring elm groves and the iconic fountain, Bethesda Terrace provides some gorgeous backdrops for engagement and wedding photos. It is especially amazing in the fall, with the foliage changing color. However, this is a bit of a tricky spot because it is usually teeming with tourists.
2. Riverside Park
If you are looking for a more out-of-the-way spot to tuck into for some more intimate, private moments away from the crowd, Riverside Park is where you need to be at. This waterfront park is a great alternative to Central Park that gives you the idyllic park-feels minus the tourists.
3. Belvedere Castle
Did you know that Belvedere actually means “beautiful view” in Italian? And rightfully so. This gorgeous, Victorian stone structure provides views of Turtle Pond, Delacorte Theater and the Great Lawn. If you are looking for unique backdrops for your engagement or even wedding photographs, this place is perfect for that.
Your engagement photoshoot is truly only the beginning of what is to come in the beautiful lifelong journey with the love of your life. As I am wrapping up the end of the 2014 Engagement and Wedding Season, This is the last post for 2014. Engagement Session with Kia and Ken in Central Park! This amazing couple grew up in New York City, so when scheduling Kia + Ken’s engagement session in middle of October, they decided no other than Central Park, Bethesda Fountain,Central Park Mall to capture their photos. We had to reschedule few times because weather was showing to be a bit stubborn, but we finally got a great day to be able to document this fabulous couple! I had a blast spending the (chilly) afternoon with Kia + Ken, and cannot wait for their big day in 2015! So without further ado, here are some of my favorites from their Engagement Session!
